Award-winning restaurateur and hospitality innovator Brent Tipps, founder of BoomerJack’s, Bedford Icehouse, and Sidecar Social, announced today the launch of On Deck Concepts, the new operating entity to house all current concepts, at its home office in Hurst (136 Harmon Rd, Hurst 76053) as well as the groundbreaking of new R+D support center in Bedford (2300 Airport Fwy, Suite 210, Bedford 76022).
“With On Deck Concepts, our goal is to be at-the-ready to welcome each of our guests enthusiastically and create a great overall social and dining experience for them. The term “on deck” also relates to the fact that I am a lifelong Texas Rangers supporter and Major League Baseball fan and we want to really optimize the enjoyment of our guests who are sports lovers in North Texas at our locations. Anytime you come to one of our concepts, we want you to leave your work at the door and just unwind, relax and enjoy,” said On Deck Concepts CEO and Founder Brent Tipps.
For two decades, Tipps, a veteran of the service industry and former franchise owner of CiCi’s Pizza, has steadily grown the restaurant group from one counter-service, wings concept into three distinct dining concepts. BoomerJack’s Grill is their most widely known restaurant with 15 locations throughout the metroplex, Bedford Ice House was created in 2015 and last year, Tipps introduced an innovative “eatertainment” concept by opening Sidecar Social in Addison. All are known for being approachable, service-minded, friendly and fun, and multi-experiential. Tipps was named Entrepreneur of Excellence by Fort Worth Magazine in 2017.
On Deck Concepts’ mission is to provide uniquely compelling experiences that encourage guests to stay a while and come back for more. ODC vision is to continue to create a world where dining out goes far beyond just eating a meal. Tipps and his leadership team understand that their core values of passion and innovation partnered with teamwork and inclusion and supporting community through social responsibility will pave the way for continued success. Overall, the company currently has 1,600 employees in Dallas-Fort Worth. On Deck Concepts will be led by Brent Tipps as CEO and the following leadership team:
Bruce Hvidsten – CFO
Blair Cunningham – Director of Marketing
Tawny Daguio – Director of Training
Michael Currie – Director of Human Resources
Ryan Kelley – Director of Operations
Nick Griffith – Director of Development
Dan Timm – Beverage Director
Maintaining a high level of guest service is critical to measurement of success. When you walk-in any of ODC concepts you are offered a hearty welcome, spirited interactions and will be greeted not only by your server but by a floor manager multiple times during your visit.
All On Deck Concepts feature a variety of experiential, interactive entertainment in addition to craveable, classic American grill and bar fare. All are approachable and friendly with emphasis on socializing, sports and local music. They have expansive, all-season, dog-friendly patios, full-service bars, open-air spaces, firepits, wall-to-wall large TV screens accompanied with entertainment from arcade and classic games to sports watching and live music. Plan on great views of sports or live entertainment from every seat. With Bedford Ice House, they revived the traditional Texas ‘icehouse’ and with their newest concept, Sidecar Social, at Village on the Parkway in Addison, they supersized their approach and elevated the presentation and content of a multi-experiential restaurant to include 20,000 square feet of all they are known for together with high-end lounge areas, private ping-pong, life-sized beer pong, shuffleboard, foosball, cornhole, darts, basketball hoops, live music and large format sports and concert watching and private event rooms with karaoke.
For its new R+D support center in Bedford, On Deck Concepts created an environment for its team that is much like its restaurants all wrapped inside a refurbished shipping container with retro-style kitchen, communal, open work spaces with stand up desks, and innovative, flexible work/play lounge areas with soft seating, mid-century modern finishes and bohemian rugs. It will offer additional capacity for marketing, a commissary, large-training sessions, remote workstations for managers who work in the field and a venue for hosting team-building activities.
On Deck Concepts community pillars center around support of the neighborhoods and its citizens surrounding each of their restaurants, especially at-risk youth, servicemembers, veterans and first responders. Tipps created BoomerJack’s Charities 11 years ago, stemming from personal relationships to the cause, led by the company’s annual golf tournament for breast cancer that has, to date, raised $325,000 for the Joan Katz Breast Cancer Resource Center. At all On Deck Concepts, all uniformed fire and police officers receive a 50 percent discount every day. All first responders eat free on First Responder’s and Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve.
Tipps and his wife Kimberly are huge Texas Rangers fans and typically attend Spring Training, as well as multiple games throughout the year and travel with the team to an out-of-town series once a season. On Deck Concepts also contributes to the Texas Rangers Foundation.
On Deck Concepts also is a contributor to The Parenting Center and its Director of HR Michael Currie is a board member http://theparentingcenter.org
