Rapak North America, part of DS Smith Plastics, announced the launch of its NSF approved REOS line-side connector for commercial Bag-inBox edible oil dispensing systems. The REOS (Rapak Edible Oil System), screw-on line-side connector links the compatible edible oil Bag-in-Box to the dispensing machine so oil can be introduced into dispensing systems in a clean, efficient, and sanitary way.
The REOS line-side connector pairs perfectly with Rapak’s edible oil bag for Bag-in-Box packaging and has special food safe components designed to withstand cooking oil and oil-based ingredients.
Rapak’s bag ―comprised of a biaxially-oriented nylon (BON) lamination― is both oil and moisture resistant. The REOS connector is ideal for commercial dispensing systems with constant evacuation, for example commercial popcorn makers in movie theatres or other entertainment venues. Rapak also offers a Bag-in-Box solution for edible oil that is used for other applications where commercial dispensing systems are not used.
Bag-in-Box packaging for edible oil and other oil-based liquids is the ideal packaging alternative to standard tin cans, plastic bottles, or plastic jug-in-box (JIB) packaging. Bag-in-Box provides UV-light and oxidation protection. In addition, Bag-in-Box packaging environmental impact has been estimated to be up to eight times lower1 than alternative packaging formats.
The REOS line-side connector complies with NSF/ANSI Standard 18. This NSF (National Sanitation Foundation) International standard establishes food protection and sanitation requirements for the materials, design, construction, and performance of manual food and beverage dispensing equipment. The components of the REOS connector were thoroughly reviewed and approved by the NSF demonstrating they are safe for use with oil and can be easily cleaned and sanitized. The REOS line-side connector for Bag-in-Box is available at Rapak-online.com.
