Quaker Steak & Lube announced today that it has appointed Greg Lippert chief executive officer, effective immediately.

Lippert is a 30-year industry veteran, and since 2005 was chief executive officer of Mazzio’s LLC, where he directed the Mazzio’s and Zio’s Italian Kitchen brands, and recently introduced the Olive to Italian Bistro to the portfolio of restaurants.

He has extensive experience in restaurant leadership, operations, and marketing. Lippert has been a featured speaker at the Chain Operators Exchange (COEX) and Multi-Unit Foodservice Operators (MUFSO) conferences, and has also served on restaurant industry boards and community volunteer boards.

“Greg is a proven visionary leader, and we’re excited to have him join The Lube,” says Debra Koenig, chairman of the board. “ As we embark on our 40th anniversary, adding a leader like Greg to our team will be instrumental to our continued growth and profitability. His skill set and insight into the restaurant industry will help propel our national expansion to both new and existing markets.”

Prior to joining Mazzio’s LLC, Lippert served as chief concept officer and chief operating officer of Fazoli’s Management, Inc. He launched his career at The Procter and Gamble Company and The Seven-Up Company. Lippert earned a bachelors degree from DePauw University.

“It’s a great honor to join Quaker Steak & Lube as the chief executive officer,” Lippert says. “I look forward to working with our leadership team and franchisee community to help further drive the company’s growth and keep the brand at the forefront of the highly competitive casual dining sector. The brand has a loyal customer base that has become attractive to the millennial generation.”

The Lube has projected 11new restaurant openings in 2014 and recently opened a location in Warren, Ohio. Another restaurant opens today in Edison, N.J. The remainder will open throughout 2014 in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Ohio, New Jersey, and Texas, with restaurants also debuting in Louisiana, Michigan and Nebraska.
