After a highly successful run since July, The Purple Pig in Chicago is discontinuing breakfast service and breakfast catering, effective immediately. The restaurant now opens at 11:30 a.m., seven days a week, serving lunch and dinner. The no-reservations restaurant closes nightly at 11 p.m.
Chef Jimmy Bannos, Jr. says, “We had a lot of fun evolving our breakfast restaurant concept featured this past summer at The Purple Pig, and we were absolutely thrilled with both the turnout and the positive feedback from our guests. Ultimately, we were simply too busy; with this change, we’re now able to focus our attention on some new projects for the next calendar year.”
Among the new concepts, Bannos Jr. announced he’ll be launching Piggie Smalls Gyro Shop at the Wells Street Market next spring. Other details will be announced in 2018.

The Purple Pig has received numerous accolades since opening in 2009; the restaurant was named one of 2010’s “10 Best New Restaurants in America” by Bon Appétit magazine and has been a Bib Gourmand recipient from the Michelin Guide Chicago since 2011.
