Pickleball eatertainment destination Smash Park opened its second venue in Iowa this week. The newest Smash Park in Pella, Iowa, located approximately 45 miles southeast of Des Moines, opened its doors to the public on May 17.

Smash Park CEO Monty Lockyear says the location in Pella is an opportunity for the company to test franchising the Smash Park concept. “The high level of local community support, two enthusiastic franchisees, and geographic proximity made this a perfect strategic opportunity to try the franchise model,” he said. “We were able to provide a greater degree of support during the process, and it has been wonderful to see the level of excitement throughout the region.”

Currently, the location in Pella is Smash Park’s only franchise. Smash Park will be adding two corporate locations in the Twin Cities market and opening a location in Omaha next year. Smash Park also has plans to add additional corporate locations in the Midwest during the next three to five years.

The more than 20,000 square-foot venue in Pella houses four pickleball courts, along with indoor and outdoor games that include giant Connect Four, giant Jenga, cornhole, darts, shuffleboard, foosball, ping pong, and bocce ball. It also features more than 80 TVs and a 14,000 square-foot patio and beer garden which will open this summer.

Smash Park offers scratch-made, American-style food from its fast-casual restaurant and craft drinks from indoor and outdoor bars. The Pella Smash Park will host pickleball leagues as well as ongoing clinics and tournaments.

Visitors can manage their entire Smash Park experience through the company’s proprietary app. It allows guests to reserve pickleball courts, order food, participate in trivia and games, and earn loyalty rewards.

Smash Park in Pella is located at 1000 Fifield Road in the Prairie Ridge Development.
