he Oval Room, a Washington, D.C. power dining spot, located just steps from the White House and Black Lives Matter Plaza at 800 Connecticut Ave, NW, 20006, is pleased to announce the introduction of a new ghost kitchen, sandwich pop-up. The new a la carte, carryout menu will debut Wednesday, September 16 and be available Tuesday through Saturday, from 11:30 AM to 9 PM. Spearheaded by Executive Chef Bryan Moscatello, On A Roll by The Oval Room will offer a rotating selection of next-level sandwiches, sides & sweets, & zero-proof cocktails. Ideal for a late-summer picnic, a workday lunch break, or a light dinner at home, these creative sandwiches are sure to please the tastebuds.
Current sandwich offerings include The Vegetable Dagwood with mushroom & goat cheese stuffed zucchini, grilled romaine, preserved tomato soubise, eggplant char and herb salad, served on a sesame seed brioche bun; the Sting Ray Sandwich with fried skate wing, oil & vinegar steamed potato, butterhead lettuce and sauce gribiche, served on a salt & pepper brioche bun; the Schnitzel on Sourdough with pine nut crusted chicken breast, heirloom tomatoes, mixed greens, arugula pesto and pecorino cheese; the Low Country Benne Seed Bun with fried chicken thigh, madeira & chicken liver smear and braised collard greens, served on a benne seed bun; the Ham & Cheese Hoagie with Morbier mayo, Calabrian chili and arugula, served on a baguette; the F.B.L.P with plum glazed pork belly, plum mostarda and charred romaine, served on a sourdough; the Ewe Grinder with lamb meatballs, goat cheese ranch, roasted peppers, red onions and romaine, served on a baguette; the Reuben That Licks Back with smoked beef tongue, Comté cheese, Kohlrabi slaw, pickled greens and peppercorn aioli, served on seeded rye bread, as well as the Burgundy Burger with short rib studded prime beef patty, burgundy braised mushrooms, Époisses de Bourgogne cheese and smoked onion relish, served on a salt & pepper brioche bun. Each sandwich is served on a house-made roll and priced from $13 to $19.
An assortment of sides & sweets will also be available for carryout. Standouts include Espelette Potato Chips; Sweet Potato Salad with scallions, peanuts, currants and golden raisins; Poppy Seed Creamy Cole Slaw and Pasta Salad with house-made shells, sungold tomatoes and smoked whey vinaigrette. Sweet treats to complete the meal include Luxardo Chocolate Macarons; Compressed Fruit Cocktail, as well as Chocolate Brownies. Prices range from $6 to $7 for sides and from $6 to $8 for sweets. Zero-proof cocktails with fun flavors such as Celery, Plum Sour and Melon, will also available for guests and priced at $8 each.
