Oktoberfest at all three of the Wirtshaus team’s restaurants and beer gardens—Wirtshaus, Brat & Bräu, and Rasselbock—will kick off on September 17, with the celebration running through October 29. Oktoberfest activities at all three venues provide those headed to Mid-City Los Angeles, the Beach Cities, and Long Beach, with a cover charge-free way to partake in the German holiday stretch; there are No cover charges to celebrate at any of the three restaurant locations.
Wirtshaus, in Hollywood, and Brat & Bräu, in Hermosa Beach, will start the six-week festivities with an official Oktoberfest “kick-off” at 3 PM on September 17, when two German celebrity guests will tap the restaurants’ respective, ceremonial Oktoberfest kegs (one at each location). The ceremonial kegs will be “on the house,” guests who are seated and purchase an entrée, drink for free from those first kegs until they run dry.
Wirtshaus' Oktoberfest plans will entail regularly changing beer and food specials throughout the celebration (specials will be posted in the restaurant, and announced on social media); live traditional German music on Fridays and Saturdays throughout the restaurant’s Oktoberfest (live music starts at 7 PM); and accompanying German brewery-sponsored décor and giveaways (sponsors confirmed to date, are Erdinger and Weihenstephaner).
Wirtshaus will also encourage guests to don their best Oktoberfest get-up, joining the fully costumed staff that will be dressed in their lederhosen or dirndls, every weekend throughout Oktoberfest. Costume contests will occur each weekend, as will stein-holding contests.
Brat & Bräu’s Oktoberfest revelry will mimic that of Wirtshaus, with the exception of live music. Traditional German music will be streaming and the restaurant’s staff will be dressed apropos to the party.
Rasselbock’s Oktoberfest plans will also involve much of the same as Wirtshaus, minus the September 17 on-the-house kick-off keg, with music details yet to be confirmed. Rasselbock’s Oktoberfest kick-off date will be determined by the restaurant’s grand opening, scheduled for late-September 2016.
