Monday, May 7, at 10:30 a.m. at NRA Show 2012, the National Restaurant Association will announce new participants in its award-winning Kids LiveWell program, a groundbreaking initiative that is providing parents with a growing selection of healthful children’s menu options when dining out.

The program, which started with 19 restaurant brands representing 15,000 locations, has achieved significant growth since its July 2011 launch. Impressive new totals will be announced Monday.

The press conference at the NRA Show Booth (#6600) will feature Dawn Sweeney, president and CEO of the National Restaurant Association, and Anita Jones-Mueller, president and founder of Healthy Dining, as well as representatives from some of the new participating companies. A culinary demonstration will follow the press conference.

To join Kids LiveWell, restaurants agree to offer and promote a selection of items that meet qualifying nutrition criteria based on leading health organizations’ scientific recommendations, including the 2010 USDA Dietary Guidelines.

The National Restaurant Association developed the program in collaboration with Healthy Dining, whose team of registered dietitians works with restaurants to identify and validate the qualifying menu choices.
