Hall of Fame Health will host its inaugural “Dinner with the Champions” fundraising dinner on Tuesday, August 16th, at Chef Troy Guard’s modern steakhouse, Guard and Grace, in downtown Denver. Hosted by Pro Football Hall of Famer Steve Atwater and Broncos Legend Mark Schlereth, the evening will celebrate the great tradition and excellence of the game of football while raising awareness and funds for mental health treatment through Fund Recovery, the official charity partner of Hall of Fame Health. Guests, including Pro Football Hall of Famer Terrell Davis and Broncos Legend Rod Smith, will enjoy an evening of food, drinks, a silent auction and a special performance from country artist JT Hodges. Donations raised are specifically designated for mental health and substance use services for professional football players regardless of career length and their families through Fund Recovery’s Hall of Fame Family Recovery Fund.

“Advocating for mental health is deeply personal to me and my wife, Letha,” says Hall of Famer, Steve Atwater. “Letha’s work as a licensed counselor for mental health and addiction has been an inspiration to see not only as her husband but as a professional athlete. Athletes shouldn’t be afraid to speak up and ask for help, and we’re grateful to work alongside Hall of Fame Health and Fund Recovery to continue spreading that message.”
“Hosting a fundraiser in Denver was a no-brainer for us”, says Ryan Cain, Executive Director of Fund Recovery. “With three great advocates in Steve, Letha, and Mark, we knew this was a great city to celebrate the accomplishments of Denver’s sports champions while also promoting the great work and resources of Hall of Fame Health. We couldn’t do it without support from Chef Guard and JT Hodges. It’s going to be a first-class event and we’re looking forward to raising money to help our football family receive the help they deserve.”
Guard and Grace, the jewel of Chef Troy Guard’s TAG Restaurant Group, will donate both the space, with the event spanning the 9,000 square-foot restaurant and patio space; and the exclusive four-course menu, created for the occasion by Guard. Proceeds of ticket sales raised will go towards the Hall of Fame Family Recovery Fund.
Says Guard of the event, “This is exactly the kind of organization we love to support. Mark, Steve and the entire Hall of Fame Health team have been great to collaborate with, and it’s been a treat creating a menu for the event. It’s going to be a fantastic night, supporting a truly worthwhile cause.”
