On the heels of what company officials cited as their best financial quarter to date—with client wins and renewals in all four focus industries including hotels, restaurants, retail, and government—newBrandAnalytics (nBA), a global leader in social market intelligence, accelerated its mission forward with the appointment of two celebrated names in the world of business service software: Kristin Muhlner and Barton Phillips.
A recognized standout in leading high-growth technology and services organizations, Kristin Muhlner was named CEO and was appointed to the company's board of directors to serve alongside investment giants, New Enterprise Associates (NEA) and Revolution, LLC.
Muhlner brings to newBrandAnalytics 20 years of expertise in building mission-critical technology solutions used by Fortune 500 companies.
In her previous role as CEO of RollStream, the leading provider of enterprise community management solutions, Muhlner spearheaded the growth of the company and its SaaS product, paving the way for RollStream’s successful acquisition by GXS.
Before joining RollStream, Kristin served as executive vice president of product development for webMethods (acquired by Software AG), where she led the development and ongoing evolution of the company’s highly acclaimed software products. During her tenure, the company grew from approximately $1 million to more than $200 million in revenues and executed eight highly successful acquisitions.
Prior, Kristin served as senior manager at Deloitte and Touche Consulting, where she led ERP implementation projects for key clients across North America. She holds a B.A. in economics from Rhodes College.
"Kristin brings a solid track record leading and profitably growing technology-driven businesses that serve Fortune 500 companies,” says Tom Grossi, partner with NEA and a member of nBA’s Board of Directors. “Combining her expertise with our already strong team of industry leaders is precisely the formula that will extend nBA’s proven success and take the company to the next level in today’s business intelligence industry.”
Muhlner says, “Social media is the new frontier in marketing and operational intelligence. Today’s most successful companies excel at using mission-critical insights gleaned from this channel to continuously deliver a high quality customer experience.
“NewBrandAnalytics’ recent growth reflects its strong reputation in this space,” she continues. “I look forward to solidifying our leadership position and empowering customer-focused companies with our innovative platform.”
Phillips has also joined the organization as executive vice president of sales and will drive the company’s sales and business development efforts worldwide. He brings to nBA a consistent record of building superior sales teams within market-leading enterprise application companies.
Most recently, Phillips was area vice president of sales with Salesforce.com, a $2+ billion leader in cloud computing, where he was responsible for public sector sales in the US. Phillips built the public sector sales organization from the ground up, establishing it as a key emerging market for Salesforce.com.
During his tenure there, he also led the Mid-Atlantic commercial sales organization with a record of revenue over-achievement. Prior, Phillips was a director of CRM Sales with Oracle Corporation and held leadership positions with Siebel Systems and American Management Systems. Phillips holds a B.S. degree from James Madison University and an M.S. degree from Carnegie Melon University.
“I was drawn to newBrandAnalytics because their powerful solutions that provide critical business intelligence with tangible ROI for customers truly sets the company apart from others in the space,” Phillips says. “Social media has revolutionized customer satisfaction feedback and response, and I’m thrilled to be a part of an organization that is leading this revolution, transforming the way companies do business, and driving our clients’ success.”
