Mongolian Concepts Appoints Blake Johnson VP of Marketing

Mongolian Concepts, the management group behind three renowned create-your-own bowl brands—Genghis Grill, FlatTop Grill and bd’s Mongolian Grill—welcomes back Blake Johnson as Vice President of Marketing. He’ll play a pivotal role in the continued success and growth of the Mongolian Concepts brands.

“We continue to build a top-notch leadership team at Mongolian Concepts to help position us to do some ambitious things,” says Gregg Majewski, CEO of Mongolian Concepts. “When I joined the brand as CEO, one of my goals was to strengthen our support team to give our guests and our stores the best of the best, and Blake certainly fits that bill. He’s going to make a significant impact on each of our brands, the franchise system, our overall guests experience, as well as our targeted expansion efforts and strategy execution.”

Johnson returns to Mongolian Concepts, where he previously led marketing efforts for the Genghis Grill brand. He also brings with him years of experience in the industry in both marketing and operations roles, previously with Dallas-based chains El Fenix and Snuffer’s, and more recently leading digital marketing at Newk’s Eatery.

Driving strategic marketing initiatives for all brands, Johnson brings an interesting perspective to the group in 2022 and beyond. He specifically wants to focus on improving the overall guests experience, whether in-store or digital. In 2018, Johnson helped re-launch Genghis Grill’s Rewards program and looks forward to focusing his attention on updating the fans loyalty programs for all brands.

“The opportunity to come back to these brands in a new leadership capacity is really exciting,” adds Johnson. “All three brands have such tremendous opportunity, with a dedicated fanbase built over decades and a unique experience with broad appeal. We’re in a great position for growth and look forward to what’s ahead.”

Genghis Grill, FlatTop Grill and bd’s Mongolian each offer fans broad appeal and cater to various flavor preferences and dietary lifestyles. As each brand emphasizes brand reimagining, heightened guest service, improved food quality and even more operational excellence, the overall guests experience will maintain its high-quality interactive experience.
