This summer, Geneva’s lovers of fine food and luxury surroundings can discover the true flavours of fine Indian cuisine as London’s Michelin-starred Tamarind of Mayfair returns to the Hotel d’Angleterre for a two-week residency for the eleventh consecutive year.

A team from Tamarind of Mayfair, headed up by executive chef and director of cuisine Alfred Prasad, will be cooking at the luxurious five star hotel’s annual Indian food festival – or ‘Festival Gastronomique Indien Tamarind’ – now in its second decade. The festival runs from July 31st to August 17th, and sees Tamarind temporarily take over the stoves of the renowned Windows Restaurant from chef Philippe Audonnet.

Tamarind of Mayfair is the flagship restaurant of the Tamarind Collection offering a fine dining experience and is only one of six Indian restaurants worldwide to hold a Michelin star.  Situated in Mayfair’s Queen Street, Tamarind is a regular destination for international celebrities including David Beckham, Nicole Scherzinger, David Furnish and Tom Cruise.

Dating back to 1872, the Hotel d’Angleterre is a magnificent blend of old world Swiss hospitality and contemporary five star comforts. Enjoying a spectacular position on the shore of Lake Geneva, it’s a home from home for visiting celebrities and diplomats thanks to its unsurpassed levels of luxury, service, comfort and gastronomy. It has 39 exquisite rooms with views over the lake and up to Mont Blanc.

Tamarind of Mayfair’s residency at the Hotel d’Angleterre coincides with the famed annual Geneva Festival, which runs from 18 July to 11 August 2013. The city-wide celebrations encompass live music performances; DJs; a funfair; activities on the lake, such as dragon boat racing, waterski racing and jumping; street art and dance and culminate in one of Europe’s biggest fireworks displays.  Diners at the Windows restaurant will have ringside seats for the fireworks, as it affords jawdropping views of Lake Geneva, the iconic Jet d’Eau, and beyond to Mont Blanc, making it the perfect location to enjoy Tamarind of Mayfair’s unique and first class brand of Indian ‘haute cuisine’.

“Tamarind of Mayfair specializes in Indian fine dining so it is fitting that we are returning to Geneva this summer to celebrate our eleventh year with the magnificent Hotel d’Angleterre.   The combination of our cuisine, the wonderful surroundings of the hotel and the offerings of the Geneva Festival will make for another truly spectacular two weeks,” Tamarind Collection’s director of Cuisine and executive chef Alfred Prasad says.

Jean-Vital Domezon, general manager at the Hotel d’Angleterre says, “The Hotel d’Angleterre is delighted to once again welcome back the Michelin starred Tamarind of Mayfair to take over our Windows restaurant for two weeks this summer. Our Indian food festival is an event the people of Geneva and look forward to each year and we are proud that this partnership is going strong more than 10 years down the line.”

The menu for the ‘Festival Gastronomique Indien Tamarind’ will include a wide range of dishes from the A la Carte Menu with starters, kebabs, curries, rice, breads, and desserts.
