The Melting Pot Restaurants, Inc. is bringing its unique fondue dining experience to Indonesia through a five-unit franchise development agreement with P.T. Jaya Internusa Abadi. The first Melting Pot location in Indonesia is slated to open this year in Jakarta.

P.T. Jaya Internusa Abadi, which operates more than 20 restaurants in Jakarta and Bali, is actively pursuing sites for Melting Pot locations in both of those cities.

“We are excited to introduce our brand in Asia through this agreement with an experienced Indonesian restaurant operator,” said Dan Stone, vice president of franchise development for Front Burner Brands, the restaurant management company for The Melting Pot. “We’re confident that Indonesian guests will embrace The Melting Pot and its interactive fondue dining experience.”

Along with development in Indonesia, The Melting Pot recently signed the largest franchise deal in the company’s history to bring 12 units to eight countries in the Middle East through a multi-unit agreement with Hospitality Concepts and Solutions.

The first Melting Pot location in the Middle East, which is slated to open in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in early 2013, is part of a five-unit franchise deal for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with Dr. Mazen Almugbel of Albabteen United Foods Company, LLC and Mira Foods.

“We’ve received tremendous interest in our brand worldwide because it’s a unique and interactive concept,” said Stone. “The Melting Pot experience transcends cultural differences and is especially attractive to cultures that place great value on spending time with family and friends around a table of food.”

In addition to franchise development in Asia and the Middle East, The Melting Pot is continuing international expansion in Canada and Mexico, with a second location opened in Canada in Richmond Hill, Ontario, and its third location opened in Mexico City.

More than 30 international locations are now open, signed, or committed for development in Canada, Mexico, the Middle East, and Indonesia, and the company is also looking to Australia, China, India, Brazil, Europe, and additional provinces in Canada for further expansion opportunities.
