La Madeleine Country French Café presented a check for $25,000 to MakeAWay Charities this past Friday that will help provide assistance to North Texas families experiencing financial strain.

Since mid-November, la Madeleine employees have raised funds through personal contributions of which la Madeleine matched dollar-for-dollar.

“At la Madeleine we care a lot about giving back to the community in which we live,” says John Cahill, Vice President of Operations at la Madeleine, who presented the check.

“The employees at la Madeleine really rallied together with enthusiasm to make this contribution possible. This is a proud moment for our organization and demonstrates the kind of quality, community-minded people we have here at la Madeleine.”

Dallas-based MakeAWay Charities is committed to helping those less fortunate throughout North Texas.

Through targeted support, MakeAWay provides families experiencing financial hardships with assistance to prevent short-term financial emergencies from becoming catastrophes.

To date, the charity has helped more than 1,000 North Texas families in need.

“We are deeply honored that la Madeleine selected MakeAWay as its charity of the year,” says MakeAWay Executive Director Jay Hellwig.

“MakeAWay helps struggling families all year long, but the holiday season can be a particularly difficult time for families with children. Thanks to the support of la Madeleine and its employees, MakeAWay estimates being able to provide gifts for 70 families and their 125 children during this holiday season.”

La Madeleine Country French Café owns and operates 60 cafes in Texas, Georgia, Washington, D.C., Virginia, Maryland, and Louisiana, offering French country cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Since its founding in 2009, MakeAWay has helped more than 1,000 families in North Texas, including keeping over 800 of them in their own homes.
