Kontos Foods, Inc., a U.S.-based manufacturer and distributor of traditional artisan breads and Mediterranean specialty foods, announced that it will be exhibiting its Flatbread, Pita Bread, and Fillo products on July 27 at the Mayca Foodservice Show, a major local showcase of food suppliers in Costa Rica. The show is produced in conjunction with Sysco Corp., a partner and part owner of Mayca.

“We’re very excited to be attending the Mayca Foodservice show for the first time, and partnering with blue-chip companies such as Sysco and Mayca. As Kontos Foods continues its effort to expand globally, this show will give us important exposure to the Central American market, particularly Costa Rica,” says Steve Kontos, vice president of Kontos Foods.

The Mayca Foodservice show organizers are providing local chefs to create tempting recipes—with local meats and other fresh ingredients—using Kontos Pre-Oiled Gyro Bread, Pre-Grilled Panini Bread, Pocket-Less Pita Bread, and Cocktail Flatbread. The chefs will also be using Kontos Fillo Dough to make Baklava for customer sampling at the show.

Mayca Foodservice attracts 2,000 visitors each year, many of which are existing Mayca customers. Sysco is the global leader in selling, marketing and distributing food products to restaurants, healthcare and educational facilities and lodging establishments.

“Mayca and Sysco provide excellent distribution in the region and we’re greatly looking forward to showcasing our products to their restaurant, institutional and hospitality industry customers,” says Warren Stoll, Kontos Foods’ marketing director.

Kontos sells its products to retailers and foodservice establishments across North America and several other countries.
