Kettle Cuisine, maker of refrigerated and frozen premium soups, chilis, chowders, and stews in both bulk and single-serving formats, received Level 2 Safe Quality Food (SQF) Certification from the SQF institute. The SQF Certification is widely considered to be the food manufacturing industry’s most comprehensive certification.

The SQF Institute is a division of the Food Marketing Institute (FMI) and was established to administer a global food safety and quality certification and management system. The certification assures that Kettle Cuisine’s products have been prepared, cooked, and handled according to the highest possible quality standards.

“While we have always had a strict and thorough commitment to food safety and food quality, this process was a great way to get our entire organization, top to bottom, to think about these important issues more holistically,” says Karen Bishop-Carbone, Kettle Cuisine director of quality assurance. “Whereas before the audit, quality assurance was the responsibility of a few, today it has become an accountability for all and a real point of pride for each and every employee.”

An independent, third-party organization conducted a highly detailed audit of all of Kettle Cuisine’s quality assurance policies and practices over five full days of reviews and awarded the SQF Certification upon Kettle Cuisine’s first application.

“We are thrilled with this monumental accomplishment because it validates our long standing prioritization of quality and safety,” Bishop-Carbone says.
