Johnny’s Hideaway owner Chris D’Auria announced the addition of manager Chris Anthony to his team of longtime staff. Joining the well-oiled machine of one of Atlanta’s original nightspots, Anthony is no stranger to high-volume bars around Atlanta. Formerly the beverage manager for Huey Luey’s, he’s eager to leverage his 23 years of hospitality industry experience to build loyalty among guests and manage Johnny’s seasoned staff members.

“Creating lifelong relationships and meeting new people on a daily basis are definitely the most fulfilling parts of my job,” Anthony says of his new role.

Anthony has been slinging drinks and overseeing bar operations for some of the busiest hotspots in the Atlanta area for more than two decades and has developed a knack for spotting the kind of talent that can keep up with Johnny’s fast pace and demanding crowds. “Someone with a smile and an outgoing personality goes a long way in the hospitality business,” he says.

His past hospitality experience also includes managerial roles at Pure Taqueria and Izzy’s Cantina & Taqueria in Woodstock and at 120 Tavern & Music Hall in Marietta, Georgia. Anthony’s career began at American Pie/Cocktail Cove in Sandy Springs, an Atlanta institution and famed watering hole where he worked his way up from bartender to manager. He also has served as the booking agent for the local blues-influenced rock band Tyler Porch Band, giving him an ear up when it comes to dealing with Johnny’s beloved DJs.

An inspiring leader committed to service, Anthony believes in actively engaging with his staff and guests at Johnny’s. “The best advice I could give to other aspiring bar managers is to lead from the front to motivate employees and encourage teamwork.”
