Joe’s Crab Shack will celebrate the reopening of its San Antonio, Texas, location on the River Walk on March 5, after a three-month renovation that nearly doubles the overall square footage of the restaurant. Joe’s will celebrate its grand reopening with an Autism Speaks fundraiser and a chance for the first 100 patrons in line on opening day to win free crab for a year.

Doors to the River Walk Joe’s Crab Shack, located at 212 College St. between Navarro and South Presa, will officially open at 11 a.m., preceded by a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Paseo del Rio Association at 10:45 a.m. A live DJ will provide entertainment and all customers on opening day will be entered to win a prize like none other – free crab for life.

“We’ve been working very hard to update and expand the River Walk Joe’s to better serve our guests and take advantage of this beautiful location with a new balcony overlooking the river,” says Joe’s Crab Shack general manager Mike Kerr. “The newly added upstairs dining area will accommodate 100 additional guests, and we’ve doubled seating at the bar. Our whole staff – including 100 new employees – looks forward to serving guests in our new space. ”

On grand opening day, guests can donate to Autism Speaks and in return receive valuable coupons for free food on their next visit. For every $1 donation, guests receive a free slice of Key Lime Pie; with a $5 donation, a free order of Crab Nachos; and with a $10 donation, a free Classic Steampot.

The Joe’s Crab Shack menu showcases a variety of craveable, Gulf Coast-inspired seafood dishes, including Steampots, seafood entrees, and mouth-watering crab dishes featuring Dungeness, snow, and king crab. The River Walk location will also feature new menu items that reflect Joe’s southern roots, including the Third Coast Platter featuring blackened redfish topped with Orleans Sauce, the Spicy Citrus Steampot with steaming crab and shrimp mixed with the spicy flavors of citrus and Tabasco, and Joe’s Stuffers, clam shells filled with a made-from-scratch scallop, shrimp, and clam seafood stuffing.

Guests can also enjoy one of Joe’s Crab Shack’s signature drinks, such as the Shark Bite, Category 5 Hurricane or a cocktail served in a take-home Joe’s Mason Jar. Joe’s also offers a selection of tempting desserts, including its specialty Key Lime Pie and the Crabby Apple Crumble. For a full list of items, go to www.joescrabshack.com/menu.

The newly remodeled Joe’s Crab Shack can accommodate 252 guests and will have 147 employees from the local area.
