J. Alexander’s Holdings, Inc. announced on September 16 that Merus Grill will be the name of its new restaurant in Houston, Texas. The restaurant will open at 1180 Uptown Park Boulevard in Uptown Park, owned by EDENS, this fall.

Mark A. Parkey, president and chief executive officer of J. Alexander’s Holdings, Inc., said the new restaurant will be the first created and opened by the company as a Merus Grill. The Houston restaurant will include 7,900 square feet with seating for 200 guests.

In making the announcement, Parkey said interviews are now underway for professional restaurant staff to be employed at the new Merus Grill. Approximately 90 full and part time professionals will be hired prior to the upcoming opening.

“Our extensive research indicates that Houston is an excellent market in which to launch our newest upscale restaurant,” Parkey says. “We’re excited to open our initial Merus Grill in Uptown Park, one of the most attractive sites in greater Houston.”

Parkey said the company will announce final decisions for the distinctive, from-scratch cuisine to be offered by Merus Grill prior to its opening. He said the restaurant’s eclectic menu offerings will follow the Company’s long history of fresh seafood, aged beef cut in house and unique made-to-order dishes. Merus Grill will also offer handcrafted, unique cocktails and interesting martinis and will feature an extensive selection of wines served by the glass and by the bottle.
