Birra Capri, a luxury Italian craft beer from the island of Capri, is now available in the U.S. for the first time. It’s being imported exclusively by SoCal-based Airway Imports, LLC. With its American journey beginning in California, the beer has begun to make its mark in key markets there, and has just been picked up for distribution in the Chicago market.

The beer is soft, light, and refreshing, with very particular yeasts that give it a fruitful taste. It’s been called a wine drinker’s beer, and it pairs well a wide variety of cuisines and is positively received by a variety of palates.

The Brunetti brothers started Birra Capri in 2006 out of the family’s café in the heart of Anacapri. Birra Capri is unpasteurized and unfiltered, and is locally sourced and brewed in Capri, Italy. The first beer—Ligea—takes its name from one of the Ulysses mermaids, who was, as lore goes, sighted close to the Isle of Capri.
