The International Franchise Association (IFA) named Out West Restaurant Group, the largest franchise operator of Outback Steakhouse Restaurants in the United States, as Franchisee of the Year. Out West Restaurant Group was honored at IFA’s 62nd Annual Convention in San Diego, California, for being an outstanding franchise establishment owner-operator.
“Franchisee of the Year Awards are the highest honors presented to individual franchisees,” said Matthew Haller, President and CEO of the International Franchise Association. “Local business owners, like Out West Restaurant Group represent some of the best entrepreneurs in the country, and we are proud to recognize their contributions to their communities, their employees, and all those they serve.”
The Franchisee of the Year Award, sponsored by IFA’s partner Paychex, recognizes leading franchisees who exemplify at least one of IFA’s “Open for Opportunity” core pillars: Community, Workforce, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and Veterans.
For over 20 years, Out West Restaurant Group has always found ways to provide for the communities where they do business. In Redding, CA, the team dropped off dinner for the police department and their staff. In Santa Fe, NM, they deliver food to the local hospital on a regular basis. In Highland Ranch, CO Outbackers hosted a Give Back Night for the Alzheimer’s Foundation and in Westminster, CO, the team recently volunteered at their local food bank. From first responders to high school sports teams, Out West Restaurant Group is always willing to take care of local organizations that need support.
“Being a valued member of every community in which we serve is a part of our Principles and Beliefs,” says David Goronkin, CEO of Out West Restaurant Group. “We are a source of strength in times of need, giving back and consistently do our part to enhance the quality of life in our communities. This award is a great honor shared by all of our fellow Outbackers.”
“This is well-deserved recognition for an outstanding franchise partner,” says David Deno, CEO, Bloomin’ Brands, Inc. “David and his team model the spirit of Outback Steakhouse in the communities they serve each and every day.”
A recent IFA study showed that franchising helped lead U.S. economic recovery in 2021, with exceptional job and business growth across all franchising sectors. The industry on average provides higher wages, better benefits, and more leave than non-franchised businesses, as well as greater opportunities to underserved communities and aspiring entrepreneurs, according to Oxford Economics research.
