Hotel Republic San Diego officially opened its doors on November 8 in downtown San Diego as part of Autograph Collection Hotels’ diverse portfolio of more than 125 hotels around the world—all one-of-a-kind-properties that champion values of vision, design and craft. Located at 421 West B Street, the 19-story boutique property captures the essence of one of the country’s most beloved coastal cities—providing insider experiences of its surrounding neighborhood through immersive amenities, inspired design, and local culinary partnerships that appeal to today’s spirited guest.

Epitomizing the independent spirit represented on the Golden State’s flag, Hotel Republic offers a thoughtful experience that embodies Autograph Collection Hotels’ ‘Exactly Like Nothing Else’ brand philosophy. The ownership team enlisted notable designers, San Diego-based Bluemotif Architecture and Los Angeles’ Forchielli Glynn, to transport visitors into a chic beach house meets private yacht club aesthetic. From date nights to weddings, power breakfasts to board meetings, the hotel is a dynamic hub where guests can work, relax, and socialize in one central location and features three distinct dining concepts, 16,000 square feet of private meeting and event space, a VIP Marriott Rewards Veranda Lounge, as well as 258 expansive guestrooms ranging from a luxurious 1,250-square foot presidential suite to king and double rooms that offer sweeping views of the downtown skyline.

“We are thrilled to debut our first Autograph property in downtown San Diego to showcase the unique history of San Diego and the city’s coastal connections,” said Amanda Altree, global brand marketing director for Autograph Collection. “We thoughtfully select hotels that celebrate individuality and offer truly memorable experiences. We look forward to connecting to guests at Hotel Republic through the hotel’s unique local partnerships with yoga classes, sustainable culinary options, and more.”

Additional details are provided below on Hotel Republic’s most notable amenities, experiences and perks:

Hotel Republic partners with San Diego’s leading restaurateur, The Patio Group (Fireside, Harvest, The Patio, Saska’s Steakhouse) to implement an everything-made-in-house credo and a menu of sustainably sourced, seasonal ingredients. Introducing three distinct dining experiences within the hotel, Executive Chef Amol Thanky (San Francisco: The St. Regis, Restaurant Gary Danko) will appease the appetites of hungry travelers and local gourmands with breakfast, lunch and dinner service daily, as well as late night bites:

Hotel Republic’s open-air third-floor terrace restaurant and lounge takes full advantage of the temperate San Diego climate, marrying the sights and sounds of downtown with a So-Cal-inspired food and drink menu. With a focus on weekend brunch, daily happy hour, and small bites, Topside doubles as a venue for neighborhood gatherings, social soirees, and private events. Guests and locals alike can partake in outdoor yoga classes on weekends followed by brunch al fresco, lounge under a festive cabana, take in the city views from banquettes around the perimeter, or belly up to the bar for an evening of mixing and mingling around the fire pit.

Anchoring the lobby of Hotel Republic and welcoming patrons upon arrival is Trade, an elegant and airy 57-seat restaurant and cocktail bar offering a selection of daily dining options including lunch, happy hour, and dinner. Trade aims to celebrate San Diego’s unique gastronomic identity—influenced by the city’s abundance of local farms, easy access to fresh fish and crustaceans from the Pacific Ocean and Sea of Cortez, and proximity to Mexico.

With seating for up to 46 guests, The Patio Marketplace caters to the hustle-and-bustle of Downtown San Diego with quick-service and healthy dining options, as well as full-service dining in its street-side bistro setting. A daily rotating breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu offers freshly pre-packaged to-go items, a selection of bowls, sandwiches, and plates prepared a la minute, alongside an expansive coffee bar featuring The Patio Group’s Swell brand coffee, fresh pressed juices, local kombucha, craft beer, and wines by the glass.

A tangible extension of its surrounding neighborhood, Hotel Republic curates a wide variety of immersive experiences. Guests as well as nearby residents are invited to partake in morning yoga practice on Topside’s outdoor rooftop patio—travelers can pack light, knowing each guest room is equipped with a branded Hotel Republic yoga mat. With a social calendar of on-site events, Hotel Republic immerses travelers in San Diego’s hospitality scene through “pop-ups” featuring the city’s urban wineries and renowned sommeliers, local artist exhibits and installations, culinary classes with The Patio Group’s chefs, cocktail classes in partnership with San Diego-based distilleries, live performances and more. Additionally, complimentary beach cruiser bicycles are available for guests to explore harbor and city trails, while a helpful concierge team can assist with local routes and recommendations.

In keeping with the Marriott International brand, Hotel Republic San Diego features a VIP Marriott Rewards Veranda Lounge on the third floor, exclusively for Marriott Rewards member receptions and breakfasts. This lounge is uniquely San Diegan, featuring an indoor-outdoor space that allows guests to enjoy the best of San Diego’s temperate climate. The veranda features a two-sided fireplace wall that can be enjoyed from indoors or al fresco, a trellis full of greenery, and natural lighting elements. The veranda is designed to help Marriott Rewards members unwind with a complimentary happy hour and charge up for their day with a hosted breakfast.

Hotel Republic San Diego is a project of ownership group RP SCS WSD Hotel, LLC (comprised of Rockpoint Group as the majority owner and SCS Advisors as the minority owner and asset manager) and management company, HEI Hotels & Resorts.
