Fund Recovery will host its second annual “Dinner with the Champions” fundraising dinner on Tuesday, August 15th, at Chef Troy Guard’s modern steakhouse, Guard and Grace, in downtown Denver. Hosted by Pro Football Hall of Famers Steve Atwater and Terrell Davis and Broncos Legend Mark Schlereth, the evening will celebrate the great tradition and excellence of the game of football while raising awareness and funds for mental health or substance misuse services through Fund Recovery.
Additional guests, including former Denver Bronco legends Rod Smith, Alfred Williams and Karl Mecklenburg will enjoy an evening of food, drinks, a silent auction, and special performances from Nashville-based country artist JT Hodges and LA-based comedian, NFL Honors and ESPY Award songwriter, Avery Pearson. Donations raised are specifically designated for mental health and substance use services on all levels of care for people who cannot afford the high cost of receiving professional help.

“I can’t think of a better way to spend an evening than at one of Denver’s finest dining establishments, with football legends, great music, and amazing company,” said Terrell Davis. “I’m honored to be hosting alongside my brothers Steve and Mark and to be using our voices to raise money for Fund Recovery and the Hall of Fame Family Recovery Fund. There are so many players and families of players that need help and don’t know where to turn, and by working with Guard and Grace, we can put on an unforgettable evening to raise funds needed to make a difference for our football family.”
“For this event to have such a positive impact on the community of Denver and the families of football legends in only one year, speaks volumes to the commitment of the Pro Football Hall of Famers and their families, Chef Troy Guard, and everyone who has come together to make lives better for those in need,” says Ryan Cain, Executive Director of Fund Recovery. “So many people don’t know where to turn if they need help. Working with Guard and Grace to put on a world-class evening allows us to raise money and continues to destigmatize the conversation around mental health.”
Guard and Grace, the jewel of Chef Troy Guard’s TAG Restaurant Group, will donate both the space, with the event spanning the 9,000 square-foot restaurant and patio space; and the exclusive menu, created for the occasion by Guard. Proceeds of ticket sales raised will go towards the nonprofit organization Fund Recovery.
Says Guard of the event, “We had an absolute blast working with the Fund Recovery team last year for the first Dinner with the Champions at Guard and Grace. Mark, Steve and the entire Fund Recovery team were a pleasure to collaborate with and creating a menu and hosting an event for such a worthwhile cause is our favorite part of being in this business. If last year is any indicator for what’s in store this time around, the guests are in for an awesome night of food, drinks and chance to meet some football legends. Lastly, have some fun and raise some money!”
