The Greene Turtle has opened the fourth of at least seven casual dining/sports bar restaurants it plans to develop in Delaware. The restaurant is the first in a four-unit deal with business partners Parthiban Jayaraman and Pradip Saha, who are also Dunkin’ Donuts franchisees. Two of their remaining sites will also open in Delaware, and the fourth represents the first location slated for Pennsylvania. The chain has two other franchise groups with open locations in Delaware, one of which recently announced plans to open an additional site there as well.
In addition to bringing the popular Mid-Atlantic-based brand closer to saturation in Delaware, the Dover opening is significant to The Greene Turtle’s expansion plans in several other ways:
- It is yet another example of QSR operators looking to The Greene Turtle as a popular brand with significant growth potential as a vehicle for branching into the full-service restaurant segment within their existing regions (another group that owns some three dozen Burger King franchises opened its first Greene Turtle site on Long Island in New York last year and has commitments to develop at least nine more);
- It is also the latest example of The Greene Turtle’s success in facilitating development of its company and franchise restaurants by converting defunct existing restaurants into beautiful new spaces, restoring jobs as well as providing an appealing, unassuming venue where sports fans, youth sports teams, families, friends coworkers, and others feel welcome and can enjoy great food and drink, room to relax, and of course, broadcasts of their favorite team sports events and other programs on the dozens of overhead screens around the restaurant and smaller screens in every booth;
- It kicks off another strong growth period during which The Greene Turtle expects to see openings in Virginia, New York, Maryland, and Delaware, and to sign several more multi-unit deals; and
- It brings the brand one step closer to penetrating the Philadelphia/South Jersey market where it hopes to announce its next big development deal soon.
