The Greenbrier, the classic American destination resort in West Virginia's Allegheny Mountains, is dedicating the third installment of its first annual Discovery Series weekends to local craft beer and blues music. From January 31 to February 2, the "Brews and Blues Weekend" will celebrate artisanal breweries and the best of the blues from the region with beer tastings, dinners, demos, and lectures along with live music showcasing area talent. Area breweries Bridge Brew Works, Mountain State Brewing Co., Blue Mountain Brewery and Morgantown Brewing Company will be hosting demos, lectures and cooking events during this beer enthusiast's weekend.

Renowned recording artists, The Adrian Duke Project, will be on hand at The Greenbrier playing the best in blues, jazz, and R&B. Their music will be featured during special "Blues and Brews Weekend" events throughout the resort and casino. Special guest vocalist Jane Powell will also be on-hand to perform the blues of the 1950s and 1960s.

To begin the celebration of local craft beers and blues music, guests are invited to indulge in a night of craft beer tastings and blues music. Bridge Brew Works, Mountain State Brewing Co. Blue Mountain Brewery, and Morgantown Brewing Company will have their favorite beers on tap and "The Best of the Blues" will be performed by The Adrian Duke Project.

Owners Willie Lehmann and Brian Arnett made their first batch of homebrew in the early 1990s and sold their first beer in October 2005. A representative from Mountain State Brewing Co. will host a BBQ-inspired meal with beer pairings.

Charles Rick of Blue Mountain Brewery will take guests through the history of American beer from its early beginnings, Prohibition, the Volstead Act, and the current craft beer renaissance.

Home-Brewing with Bridge Brew Works in the Crystal Room

With over 32 years of combined experience in home and commercial brewing, Bridge Brew Works founders Ken Linch and Nathan Herrold will discuss making quality brews at home and how they transitioned to their own micro-brewery.

With the Super Bowl around the corner, The Greenbrier culinary team will demonstrate a few simple recipes, using beer of course, that are perfect for game night. A tasting and recipe cards of items being prepared is included.

The Greenbrier Discovery Series is a collection of eight themed weekend events hosted by industry personalities such as: design guru Carleton Varney, Curator of The Greenbrier; a team from the hit PBS show, Antiques Roadshow; Monte Durham, celebrity wedding consultant, and fashion director of Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta; and Mandy Hale, blogger and author of The Single Woman: Life, Love & a Dash of Sass and the forthcoming March 2014 release, I've Never Been to Vegas But My Luggage Has.
