Behind every cup of Farmer Brothers coffee lies expertise and artistry, like those housed inside the company’s Portland, Oregon location.

In this state-of-the-art, LEED certified roastery, green coffee buyers use more than years of buying experience to ensure a supply of fresh crop premium and specialty grade coffee is delivered to the company’s roasting plants just in time to meet customer demands.

“Brian Howard, with nearly 15 years of experience as a green buyer, along with Molly Laverty, whose dedication and focus is applied to buying our sustainable green coffees, complement our green buying team,” says Portland’s director of coffee, Paul Thornton. Brian, Molly, and Paul source and purchase green coffee from more than 18 countries, ensuring the supply of all of the company’s green coffee needs.

“Our team in Portland has outstanding field and practical experience surrounding buying which also complements our coffee product development efforts,” adds Thornton. “Collectively, their decades of experience in various aspects of the coffee industry, including internal industry involvement, brings together a Specialty Coffee Association of America Board member and Past SCAA President, a member of the SCAA Sustainability Council, along with roasters who are members of the Roasters Guild and baristas who are members of the Barista Guild of America.”
