Grateful Palate Catering & Events, a premier private event space for weddings, anniversaries, corporate functions and social occasions in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, reopened on June 20 after an intensive interior renovation. Inspired by the fantasy of flight and nature at large, interior designer Deborah Frustino of Mountainside Design, created a serene vibe with birds as the featured creature focal point. In addition, a deep blue color palette echoes the venue’s unique waterfront location which overlooks the Intracoastal Waterway and serves as a natural backdrop compliments of floor-to-ceiling, sliding glass doors.
The event space, totaling over 4,000 sq. ft., evokes the presence and feeling of nature with a seamless transition from indoor to outdoor thanks to subtle yet sophisticated design elements such as ombré window treatments. Upon entry, guests are greeted by blue herons flying overhead on marshmallow colored manila hemp compliments of specialty wallpaper by Phillip Jeffries, a brand synonymous with natural, textured and specialty wall coverings. These native birds of South Florida appear to soar upwards as if they were flying out the panoramic windows boasting an uninterrupted, 180 degree view of picturesque waterfront.
A stunning, blue agate bar anchors the main dining room with a dramatic, backlit black and white peacock standing guard at the back bar. Three-dimensional butterflies flank the side wall while the main dining room displays a striking floral sculpture created with natural woods and metals and hand-painted with gold leaf by metal sculpturist Tommy Mitchell. The space is sophisticated yet whimsical with a touch of fantasy at every corner.
“As a family-owned and operated premier catering brand and event venue, we have been celebrating the milestones of multiple generations of families for decades, which has earned us an impeccable reputation,” says Meghan Leckey, owner of Grateful Palate Catering & Events and the Shooters Waterfront restaurant located next door. “In an effort to grow and evolve with our loyal and discerning clientele, we embarked on a gorgeous interior renovation to match our panoramic views and rival the best catering venues in the world.”
The renovation timeline for Grateful Palate Catering & Events was inspired by the success of the recently launched second-floor private event space at its sister property Shooters Waterfront. Connected by 340 feet of total dock space with a full bar, the two adjoining properties offer guests a multitude of indoor and outdoor space for their next destination event.
Designed to accommodate both sit-down dinners and standing receptions with optional add-ons such as the Oasis and Tiki Bar, the Grateful Palate Catering & Events boasts a dedicated culinary team, menus by the executive chef, a professional service staff to oversee every affair, WiFi access and A/V capabilities, complimentary boat dockage for yacht/watercraft arrivals and valet. The venue is also a dedicated stop for the Fort Lauderdale water taxi.
