Gene & Georgetti, Chicago’s original steakhouse since 1941, is celebrating February with a few announcements: a new winter menu, Valentine’s Day Specials and opening for carryout and delivery for lunch.
With a fourth-quarter that was dominated by Omicron cases in Chicago, Gene & Georgetti made the decision to extend their usual January closing from 5 days to two full weeks to address a few restoration projects and to wait out the post-holiday COVID-19 surge.
On January 13, the 81-year-old institution reopened for dinner only, every day from Monday through Sunday beginning at 3 pm.
As the restaurant heads through January and into February, the team is excited to launch a new winter menu and release their Valentine’s Day specials. “With all of our pastas now being made in-house, we are thrilled to introduce some new dishes that come from both our ancestral home of Tuscany as well as some of our favorite places in Italy,” says Michelle Durpetti, third-generation managing partner.
“We stay true to our steakhouse roots by remaining dedicated to selecting the highest quality cuts for our steaks + chops. We are matching that quality and integrity with some really inspiring sides, pastas and a few new “classic” dishes (try the Trippa alla Fiorentina!) as well,” says Durpetti. “I am thrilled to introduce this menu and can’t wait for our customers to enjoy it,” adds Cristiano Bassani, head chef.
The restaurant is also very happy to announce that it will be open at lunch for carryout and delivery, allowing people to enjoy all of the lunch favorites they have come to know and love. Gene & Georgetti Chicago remains open for dining, delivery and pick-up 7 days a week. Carry out + Delivery Monday - Sundays from 11:00 am - 9:00 pm. In-restaurant dining is available Monday - Sunday beginning at 3:00 pm.
