The Flying Biscuit Café will mark its 20th anniversary with a cookbook filled with recipes submitted by its loyal patrons.  Those who submit the best eight recipes will receive a free Flying Biscuit meal per week for a year. Following the success of the Atlanta-based franchise restaurant’s first cookbook in 2007—which included classics like sweet potato pancakes and shrimp and grits–the Flying Biscuit is enlisting the culinary expertise of its most loyal fans for its 20th anniversary cookbook.

“Our customers constantly tell us how much they love the recipes found in our original cookbook and that they have become family favorites,” says Brent Fuller, brand leader at The Flying Biscuit Café.  “We wanted to create a new cookbook for this milestone that not only included some new Flying Biscuit favorites, but also sourced the best dishes from our customers throughout the Southeast.”

From June 28 through July 25, 2013, the Flying Biscuit is encouraging fans and patrons to submit their recipe to www.flyingbiscuit.com/cookbook for a chance to be a part of the 20th Anniversary Cookbook.  Recipes submitted must fit into one of eight categories: Breakfast, Soup and Salad, Appetizer, Lunch, Dinner, Kid-friendly, Dessert, or Biscuit. Local Flying Biscuit owners are looking for original recipes, such as Southern dishes with new twists or family favorites passed down for generations.  Each of the 13 Flying Biscuit locations will choose a winning recipe for each category to comprise 104 semi-finalists.  Semi-finalists’ recipes will then be posted on the contest website and voted on by Flying Biscuit customers nationwide.

Out of the 104 recipes, eight grand prize winning recipes will be featured in the Flying Biscuit 20th Anniversary Cookbook. The person who developed the recipe will receive a free Flying Biscuit meal per week for a year and a prize pack, including a free copy of the cookbook. Their recipe will also be served as a special at their nearest Flying Biscuit location.   Semi-finalists will each receive recognition in the cookbook with the inclusion of their recipe, as well as a free copy of the cookbook and a t-shirt.
