As 2018 draws to a close, FLAT Tech Inc., a world leader in table stabilization and alignment technology, has been reflecting on what’s been another record-breaking year and preparing for the next.
In 2018, the company saw their retrofittable solution for wobbly tables—FLAT Equalizers, receive the coveted Kitchen Innovations (KI) Award at the NRA (National Restaurant Association) Show and received further awards from Food Service Equipment Reports and the Western Foodservice Show. The introduction of Equalizers is certainly a game changer as restaurants, cafes and bars are now able to fix their existing ‘wobbly foes.'
The company continued to witness several top-tier restaurant chains adopt FLAT Equalizers or FLAT Table bases as their preferred options as these organizations continue to focus on an improved customer experience. Other industry segments, such as the military and educational institutions, have also shown a strong interest.
In response to these growing opportunities, FLAT Tech opened their US Headquarters early in November in Buffalo Grove, around 30 miles north of Chicago. The company sees this as an ideal mid-west location within touching distance of one of the world’s great food capitals. The office location is conveniently located in proximity to FLAT’s distribution facility in Davenport, Iowa—which holds the full range of FLAT table bases and Equalizers.
Senior management will also be located in Buffalo Grove, with Barry Mancell the company’s new CEO leading from there. Originally based at FLAT’s global headquarters in Sydney Australia, Mancell joined the company in 2009 as CFO and Company Secretary. Mancell comments, “Our US division is poised for an exciting 2019 as we build on our successes to date, the opening of our new office reflects our excitement, commitment and growth in the market. We look forward to working closely with customers old and new in 2019 and improving the customer experience for diners everywhere.”
In addition to Mancell, Nils Hughes joins FLAT’s US team as VP of Sales – Americas. Nils brings a wealth of industry expertise to the company having worked in the foodservice and hospitality industries in the US and internationally over 25 years. A speaker of 4 languages, Hughes has worked in senior positions for companies such as Cambro, Dudson Group and Rosseto Serving Solutions. Hughes says, “Joining FLAT was an opportunity too big to pass up. The company’s success is inspiring and their products are truly ground-breaking. I’m thrilled to be joining an established team of sales professionals and leading the growth of the business in the Americas”.
FLAT continues to serve customers throughout the U.S through their network of foodservice equipment resellers. For further information on the company, their products and where to purchase visit FlatTech.com
