People Report and sister company Black Box Intelligence announce the finalists for the 2011 Best Practices awards, to be presented Nov. 3, at the annual “People, Profits, Planet” summit for its members.

The following 12 companies are being recognized and are to be congratulated for their achievements in creating workplaces that are thriving and making a difference: BJ’s Restaurants, Inc.; California Pizza Kitchen; The Capital Grille; The Cheesecake Factory; Corner Bakery Café; Eat’n Park Restaurants; la Madeleine; Logan’s Roadhouse; McDonald’s, Inc.; Monical’s Pizza; Red Lobster; White Castle.

“These companies represent every segment of the industry, and range widely in number of restaurants, geographic locations, and numbers of employees,” says Joni Thomas Doolin, founder and CEO of People Report. “However, they are all making their workplace practices a cornerstone of their overall market presence. The finalists are all leaders in their segments of the 100+ company People Report consortium, in the areas of management and hourly retention of employees, workplace diversity, and year-over-year improvement in those results. Additionally, this year’s finalists have submitted questionnaires detailing their practices in the areas of community involvement, corporate responsibility, employee funds and foundations, and initiatives in the broad category of sustainable business practices.”

Bill Schaffler, COO and CFO of People Report and Black Box Intelligence, says, “It is no coincidence that these twelve companies are also growing and adding new jobs in such a difficult economic environment. Every one of them believes that the commitment to their people and their communities are key reasons for their success.”

The four “Best Practices” winners will be announced at a special awards luncheon during the consortium’s 16th annual conference, held in Dallas on Nov. 3at the Dallas/Addison Marriott Quorum.
