Fifth Group Restaurants, creators of some of Atlanta’s most beloved restaurants, has been showing its love for the local community for the past 20 years (HWR 10 years) in partnership with the Atlanta Community Food Bank. This milestone year has Fifth Group shining even brighter with record-breaking fundraising efforts on behalf of the Food Bank- to the tune of $96,717. Funds were raised in support of the charity’s 2018 Hunger Walk Run.

“It’s the people of Atlanta who have contributed greatly to our success over the years, not only in the restaurant space, but also through our efforts in raising awareness and funds for important organizations like the Atlanta Community Food Bank,” says Robby Kukler, Fifth Group Restaurants partner and Vice-Chair of the Food Bank’s Board of Directors. “We are honored to have established such a long-standing partnership with the Food Bank and to have achieved this remarkable feat of raising nearly $100,000 to help further their mission of ending hunger in our community.”

This year also marks the 25th anniversary of Fifth Group, who has made it a priority to give back to its community. Ten years ago, in 2008, Fifth Group and the Food Bank launched the Restaurant Program to encourage Atlanta’s hospitality community to raise awareness and funds for the Hunger Walk Run. For the past 10 years, the restaurant group has raised more than $500,000 in total, resulting in 2 million meals. This year, Fifth Group increased their contributions from last year’s efforts through their eight restaurants and event company, Bold Catering & Design. Funds were raised through in-restaurant guest’s contributions, employee donations, online contributions made to the Food Bank, support from company partners and an employee match program.

“We are incredibly grateful to have a sustaining partnership with Fifth Group Restaurants,” says Kyle Waide, president and CEO of the Atlanta Community Food Bank. “Fifth Group has amazed us throughout the years with their steadfast commitment to helping us end hunger and provide stability to those in need. We applaud their astounding fundraising efforts this year and over the past 10 years in support of our work.”

Hunger Walk Run is a signature event for the Food Bank and draws supporters from metro Atlanta communities to enjoy for the family-friendly event to bring awareness to food insecurity across local communities. Now they may become part of the solution. The 2018 event, which marked its 34th year, drew thousands of attendees.
