Ferraro’s invites guests to experience its next Taste & Learn on Saturday, September 17 at 5 p.m. Taste & Learn is Ferraro’s popular, monthly wine-tasting and education event that provides illuminating wine education along with a menu of expertly prepared, authentic Italian small plates crafted by Chef Mimmo Ferraro.
The September Taste & Learn event spotlights wines from Tornatore. In 1865, the Tornatore family began cultivating grapes and producing wine in the town of Castiglione di Sicilia, Italy. Their vineyard lies on the northern side of Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe, which provides rich, nutritious soil for the production of grapes and high-quality wines. Tornatore also ages its wines in oak barrels buried with basalt rocks from Mount Etna.
Taste & Learn attendees will begin the tasting with a Tornatore Etna Bianco Carricante 2020, a bright white wine offering hints of green apple. Second on the menu is the Tornatore Etna Rosso Nerello Mascalese 2018, a ruby red wine with an intense and spicy aroma. Next, the Tornatore Pietrarizzo Nerello Mascalese 2019 provides clear hints of red berries and flowers. Lastly, guests will enjoy Tornatore Trimarchisa Nerello Mascalese 2017, a distinctive red wine made from 40-year-old grape vines.
