Famous Dave’s announced the launch of its new fried chicken sandwich, which will roll out at all of the brand’s stores across the U.S. on Monday, February 3. The golden-brown, deep-fried chicken sandwich with a “good ol’ southern kick” is based on a recipe created by founder Dave Anderson’s mother Iris and will be served a la carte on a buttery brioche bun with two signature spicy pickles and drizzled with Dave’s comeback sauce, for $5.

“Southern home cooking is a passion, especially fried chicken,” says Anderson. “My dad used to drive us to the south nearly every weekend to get ingredients for biscuits and to eat ‘good ol’ southern chicken.’ My mom perfected her own pan-fried chicken recipe, which resulted in tender, juicy chicken with a beautiful golden, thin and crispy outside.”

Dave Anderson, whose father was a Choctaw Indian from Oklahoma, founded the brand in 1994 and opened up the doors to his first location in Hayward, Wisconsin. Anderson has continued to draw inspiration for his recipes from his mother Iris and his “BBQ-loving” father Jimmie as the brand has grown to 125 locations in 31 states and three countries.

“I learned from an early age the importance of southern home cooking and hospitality, and my roots have always had a strong southern influence, which has shone through in our stores across the U.S. and internationally,” says Anderson. “We’re looking forward to sharing this new menu item, which has been a staple in my family. We know you’re going to love it and are going to keep coming back for more.”

The chicken sandwich will go live in all of the brand’s stores on Monday, February 3 and will be available for dine-in and to-go.
