E&O Asian Kitchen Captures Nightlife Scene


E&O Asian Kitchen is a modern Asian restaurant and lounge in the heart of San Francisco’s vibrant Union Square. 

E&O will close its doors April 15, 2012, to begin its highly anticipated plans for renovation. The $1 million makeover, led by architect Tonya Beluschi, whose previous work includes restaurants like District and Oakland’s Pican, and Consulting Chef Arnold Eric Wong, will drastically alter the restaurant’s overall layout. 

The renovation will require a month-long hiatus from San Francisco's restaurant scene, with plans to debut on May 18, 2012, as E&O Asian Kitchen.

"What made us successful before will stay,” says Wong, who will be very involved in the remodeling process. “Guests will see their menu favorites, but we will be expanding our offerings to add new and exciting dishes. With the renovation, we aim to create a buzzing scene with a new lounge and bar program with late night bites and creative cocktails.”

Chef Sharon Nahm will continue at the helm of the kitchen and will collaborate with Chef Arnold to create the new menu. The new culinary direction will reflect the restaurant's sleek, modern design. 

General Manager Amanda Bowman, following nine years at the restaurant, will continue to oversee E&O’s daily operations and lead the existing dedicated E&O staff. 

E&O's new design will include an open lounge and bar, taking up almost half of the property’s space and featuring a modern sleek decor. Visible from street level, the lounge aims to attract new customers who might previously have typified the restaurant as a dinner only spot.  

With the introduction of live music and extended business hours, E&O will become a nightlife destination as well as the go to place for inventive Asian cuisine. To implement the new bar program, E&O is excited to welcome acclaimed mixologist Carlos Yturria, who will craft signature cocktails inspired by Asian ingredients.

The renovation will also include a new 12-16 seat special dining room for guests looking to experience E&O in a more intimate setting. The private dining spaces including the Cinnabar and Mezzanine Level will also undergo extensive renovations to create new and dynamic private rooms.
