El Fenix announced today that it will open its next restaurant in mid-June as part of the Winstar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma.

The 8,500-square foot restaurant is the first outside Texas and will be located on the Winstar grounds, which include the 395-room Winstar Casino and Hotel, the Inn at Winstar, a state-of-the-art golf course, and many other amenities.

“We visited several Tex-Mex restaurants throughout the selection process for WinStar World Casino,” says Sherri Waters, chief of staff, Chickasaw Nation. “El Fenix is a beloved Dallas-based tradition and we can clearly see why! The restaurant stood out in food quality, price, service, and overall experience. It's the perfect fit for our guests, as most of them commute from the Dallas-area."

In order to best cater to the Winstar customer, El Fenix will be open daily, featuring its exclusive menu that has been described as the “original comfort food with a kick” and was recently honored for having the “Best Tex-Mex” and “Best Margaritas” by readers of prestigious D magazine.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for us,” says Mike Karns, president and CEO of El Fenix. “Because The Winstar is so popular with Dallasites, a lot of their guests will already be El Fenix fans. But this will also allow us to reach an entirely new group of customers, and we look forward to becoming a valuable member of the Winstar and greater Oklahoma community.”

The opening comes just months after El Fenix announced plans to begin expanding beyond the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and opened its first restaurant in Wichita Falls. There are 20 El Fenix restaurants throughout Dallas-Fort Worth.
