Hunter Pond and Kyle Brooks, founders of the popular, East Hampton Sandwich Co, have partnered with M Crowd Restaurant Group (Mi Cocina, The Mercury) to open a second North Texas location of their East Coast inspired neighborhood restaurant Hudson House on Tuesday, September 25.
Located in Addison at 4933 Beltline Road in the former Taco Diner space Pond says, “the homey yet sophisticated restaurant is our take on the ‘swanky’ neighborhood joints of the West Village in New York City.”
With what Pond calls an “old-school casual” design and “an obsession with East coast oysters,” Hudson House offers timeless dishes for both lunch and dinner, along with some of the rarest oysters you can find outside of New York City or Boston. He explains, “We’ve partnered with some boutique oyster farmers to bring a unique variety that Texans would normally have to travel to the east coast to find.”
Aside from the carefully curated oyster selections, standout Hudson House dishes include: Avocado Dip, a starter made with whipped avocado, green onion, garden herbs and ranch chips; The Cheeseburger, with two thin patties, American cheese, specialty pickles, minced onion and Hudson sauce; the Chicken Parm, classically prepared with creamy tomato pasta and reggiano; and the dramatic Royal Seafood Tower, with specialty East Coast oysters, shrimp cocktail, tuna tartare, cracked king crab and whole 2lb lobster.
Equally as well-known for their bar program, Hudson House boasts the “World’s Coldest Martinis” serving over 10 different varieties of the classic cocktail. Frozen glasses and floating ice chips are the norm for these veteran shakers, along with a craft cocktail program anchored by their signature frozen peach bellini; “for when you need a break from the frozen margs”, states Pond, “With a grand marnier floater – they pack a serious punch.”
After bursting on to the scene a little over a year ago, possibly the most popular element of Hudson House are the happy hours. Their vibrant bar serves half off martinis, cheeseburgers and their entire selection of east coast oysters from 4-6pm every day (at the bar).
The patio in Addison is a huge differentiator over the Lovers Lane location and offers a large outdoor seating area for 40 people.
