ConnectedCooking and Club Rational have joined forces to create one of the largest online portals for foodservice professionals, offering even more convenience, security, and inspiration. The new platform offers a whole host of services relating to professional cooking and Rational appliances with a tap or click of a mouse.

“Networked kitchens are Rational’s big focus for the future,” says Markus Glueck, Executive Vice President for Rational North America. “When merging the two platforms, we felt that it was important to make it easily accessible and straightforward for our customers.” An updated ConnectedCooking app is now available. New members can register once on the new platform and begin taking advantage of its benefits. Services, such as an extensive database of recipes, how-to videos, and tips and tricks from professional chefs can be used whether or not units are networked. As a result, Club Rational will no longer be available starting September 18. Login information that members of Club Rational used in the past will remain valid. Users accessing the Club Rational app will be notified of the change, and will be given the opportunity to download the new app in the App Store or Google Play.

“ConnectedCooking has already received enthusiastic responses among our customers, and has proven to be helpful in everyday kitchen use. Once you get used to a networked kitchen, you will not want to work without it,” adds Glueck. After all, one of the world’s biggest platforms for foodservice professionals offers an array of benefits:

Personal cooking programs and thousands of recipes from the international recipe database can be transferred directly from the cloud, using your PC, smartphone, or tablet (iOS and Android devices), onto appliances and managed centrally.

Software updates are performed automatically and free of charge, doing away with complicated transfers via memory stick.

Users receive push notifications about the latest status in real-time, notifying them about what is happening with their appliances. It is ideal for anyone who is working with multiple kitchens at various locations.

Just as important, is the management of user profiles to make specific appliance functions accessible only to a clearly defined user group. This ensures consistent quality in spite of different levels of training among the staff.

Food safety is also very important to Rational, especially when it comes to hygiene. As a result, HACCP documentation is automatically generated for each appliance and stored in the cloud.

The new platform is customizable and allows users to view what is important to them.

Lastly, if an appliance ever requires help from a technician, users can notify their service partners from wherever they are using their mobile device. Service partners can remotely access their customers’ unit, making their decisions quickly and effectively based on the specified service data.

“When ConnectedCooking was released in February of this year, I was one of the first to connect our kitchen. I was won over not only by its benefit for everyday work in my branches, but also due to the fact that my data was absolutely secure, as it uses the latest encryption technology,” states Torsten Machold, Head of Product Management for aveato Business Catering. Would he recommend it? “Absolutely,” he asserts. “My working day would look very different without it.”

Above all, integration into the network is very simple for new users: using SelfCookingCenter and CombiMasterPlus units built from October 2011 and on can be connected to a PC, smartphone, or tablet via a LAN cable or wireless module. Simply register appliances and everything starts running automatically. Users are connected with all services readily available at a single tap or click.
