On the evening of October 29, Clifton Inn in Charlottesville, Virginia, will feature a banquet with a bounty that begins in the garden and where guests are seated at an elegant communal table on the croquet lawn.

The meal itself will be prepared by four of the region’s most respected chefs: Clifton’s own Tucker Yoder; Christian Kelly, former executive chef of The Clifton Inn and now chef-owner of Charlottesville’s Maya Restaurant, acclaimed for its “from-scratch” menu; Angelo Vangelopoulos, whose Ivy Inn Restaurant in Charlottesville offers locally inspired seasonal American cuisine; and Lee Gregory of The Roosevelt, Style Weekly’s 2012 Restaurant of the Year down in Richmond, where he gives a playful twist to good southern food.

The four good friends, all of the same culinary ilk and sharing Yoder’s home-grown kitchen values, will make the most of this reunion, inspired by the hearty delights of the late fall kitchen garden that their host maintains at his restaurant within the Relais & Châteaux property. Each will prepare one appetizer and one course of the family-style meal. Each autumnal course will be paired with wines from the acclaimed Clifton cellar.

This fall feast follows on the success of the inaugural Chefs in the Garden dinner, a late summer meal featuring guest chef Jeremiah Langhorne of Charleston, S.C.’s renowned McCrady’s Restaurant, on September 12. Yoder’s guest chefs this time around are as committed to local sourcing and slow cooking.

A portion of the proceeds of this Chefs in the Garden dinner will be donated to Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign, ending childhood hunger in America by ensuring all children get the healthy food they need, every day.
