The Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association (GKCRA) will honor 2012 Restaurateur of the Year Chris Sutton, chief executive officer of KC Hopps Ltd., and 2012 Company of the Year Major Brands at its Inaugural Gala on January 12, 2013 at the historic Muehlebach Hotel. These coveted awards are the highest honors a member can receive from the GKCRA.

The Inaugural Gala is hosted by the GKCRA, the oldest and one of the largest, active restaurant associations in the country. The event celebrates the individuals and businesses making an impact in the local restaurant industry.

The Inaugural Gala will also officially inaugurate the new board with Zachary Doerfler as the incoming president. Doerfler will share the vision and industry updates related to the local association and its 600 members for the next year. Included in the evening are business partner and member recognition with special awards.

The Inaugural Gala serves as one of the largest fundraising opportunities for the organization during the year, providing funds for scholarships and grants to students pursuing careers in the hospitality industry throughout the greater Kansas City area as well as to other scholars across the state. As an active member organization, GKCRA supports the hospitality and restaurant industry. This year was a record year for community support featuring two major check presentations and scholarship awards totaling more than $200,000.

FOX 4 News Anchor John Holt will serve as the master of ceremonies during the program. Tickets are $75 for individuals with corporate and sponsorship opportunities available. The Inaugural Gala is a black tie optional reception.
