From April 22 to May 2, Chicago will celebrate James Beard Eats Week in recognition of the iconic American chef and the 26th Annual Awards gala that bears his name. To celebrate Eats Week, some of Chicago's best restaurants and eateries have created James Beard inspired dishes. Add some culinary classics to your eats this week with dishes from these top Chicagoland restaurants.

Toni Patisserie and Café

The French patisserie and cafe is offering a Blood Orange Meringue Tart inspired by James Beard. Chef Toni Marie Cox pays homage to Beard with her classic American-style Blood Orange Meringue Tart, utilizing the seasonal and colorfully pungent fruit and a pate sucre crust that tastes like it came fresh from the master's kitchen. The item will be available from April 22 to May 2 for $5.50. 

Fabulous Freddies Italian Eatery

Chicagoans can enjoy two James Beard inspired eats at Fabulous Freddies, an iconic Bridgeport destination famous for serving classic Italian sandwiches and street food. The inspired menu items are dedicated to James Beard's message of good food prepared with fresh, wholesome American ingredients. The menu will feature a Pot Roast Sandwich served with chips for $9.95 and Pot Roast Cheese Fries for $5.95.

Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant

James Beard inspires Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurants menu with a special addition, Braised Berkshire Pork Osso Bucco with crimini mushrooms, braised fennel, asparagus, fingerling potatoes, and ancho broth. The James Beard inspired dishes are in keeping with Beard's predilection for working with local farms and using local ingredients.
