Chefs Colby & Megan Garrelts, the husband and wife chef duo behind Kansas City dining institution Bluestem, unveiled Rye Plaza, the second location of their hit restaurant, Rye. Located just south of downtown in the Country Club Plaza. Rye Plaza features the Midwestern flavors and design elements guests have continued to enjoy at the original Leawood, Kansas, location.

At the forefront of sharing Midwestern food culture, Chefs Colby & Megan open this new outlet as a celebration of the food they love while also reflecting the community in which they reside. Rye Plaza is helmed by Executive Chef John Brogan and opens with dinner service before launching breakfast, lunch, and brunch. Brogan opens Rye Plaza following overseeing the kitchen at Rye Leawood.

In collaboration with Chef Colby Garrelts, Brogan features a menu of local favorites and such nationally recognized dishes as:

Burnt Ends & Sourdough Toast showcasing KC-style smoked brisket, pickled celery, and Rye BBQ sauce

Shrimp & Grits with Anson Mills cheddar grits, pulled pork, and scallion

Fried Chicken served with housemade pickles and ham gravy

Inspired by the nostalgia of ice cream shops, soda fountains, and campfire adventures of youth, Pastry Chef Megan Garrelts teams up with Rye Plaza Pastry Chef Keara Masson, who oversees production for both locations’ celebrated desserts. Known especially for their pies, Rye features classic flavors and rotating seasonal options such as:

Lemon Meringue, Banana Cream, and Chocolate Peanut Butter Pies, in addition to a changing line up of indulgent cakes, housemade ice cream & sorbets, and decadent ice cream sundaes.
