Casa Amigos Provides More than 4,000 Meals

Casa Amigos, the popular restaurant and nightclub in the heart of Scottsdale's entertainment district, is supporting local hospital workers in the Phoenix community during the COVID-19 crisis by providing free meals to hospital workers on the frontline. To date, they've provided over 4,000 meals. When word came that Phoenix Children's Hospital needed 1,700 meals to support nurses during Nurse's Week (May 6 - 12), Casa Amigos tapped their networks, and raised $25,000 in 24-hours. These funds will be used by the Casa Amigos team to make the 1,700 meals for nurses during PCH Nurse's Week.

Drew Young, the General Manager of Casa Amigos, has been leading the effort over the past 6 weeks, doing 2-3 large food drops per day to Valley hospitals. Through donations received from his long-time restaurant and nightclub clientele, he was able to re-open the Casa Amigos kitchen solely to cook these meals for frontline workers.

When Young heard about the need from Phoenix Children's Hospital, he said yes before knowing how he'd accomplish the task. "Arizona's hospital staffs, through their incredibly selfless, tireless work during COVID-19, have kept our state safe. The least we could do is make their lives a little brighter by bringing fresh-cooked meals to them on a daily basis," said Young. "When I heard that Phoenix Children's Hospital wanted to honor their nurses during their annual Nurse's Week, I wanted to do everything I could to help."

In order for his team to supply 1,700 meals, Young needed to raise $25,000, and fast. As a member of Executive Council 70, a group of working professionals dedicated to helping the Arizona community, Young reached out to see what they could do collectively. Within 24 hours, EC70 had tapped their networks, and raised the necessary funds

"It's amazing to see our members come together in times of need to support hospital workers and our community, and EC70 is proud of Drew and our members for their incredible efforts during these times," says Casey Strunk, President of Strunk Insurance Group and EC70 President. For Phoenix Children's Hospital, the donation allowed them to continue with their Nurse's Week plans. "Phoenix Children's is grateful for Mr. Young's, Casa Amigos, and the EC70's generous donation during this extraordinary time," says Andrea Polach, Director, Professional Practice at Phoenix Children's Hospital. "Kindness, compassion, and connection is what makes the Arizona community strong, and Mr. Young demonstrated these attributes with a quick call to action. He accomplished an incredible feat in a short amount of time. With sincere gratitude, thank you for celebrating Phoenix Children's nurses."

Casa Amigos is located at 7340 E. Indian Plaza Suite 100 in Scottsdale.
