The American Pizza Community (APC) announces that California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) has joined the coalition.  The APC was formed in 2010 to advocate for policies affecting pizza companies and operators of all sizes and to protect the integrity of the product. Issues include reasonable menu labeling information, labor policies, tax reform, and commodity policies. With millions of pizza combinations available to suit the variety of tastes of consumers nationwide, pizza can be a part of a healthy diet.  Many pizza operators and franchisee owners will be in Washington with their company representatives on June 5–6 to meet with legislators about how these policies impact their business.

“We are pleased to have California Pizza Kitchen join our list of pizza partners,” says Lynn Liddle, chairperson of the APC and executive vice president of Communications, Investor Relations, and Legislative Affairs for Domino’s Pizza.  “CPK has restaurants in more than 30 states around the country – and, their involvement will add value to our discussions about the far-reaching impact of our business and how specific policies affect the industry as a whole.”

According to the APC, the pizza industry is a large, vital part of the economy, and a driver of jobs.  Collectively, APC represents 20,000 pizzerias and 400,000 team members.

The APC has publicly spoken out in support of menu-labeling reforms including the Common Sense Nutrition Disclosure Act, which was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives and would allow sensible, cost-effective solutions for nutrition disclosure in a way that makes sense for the unique way pizza customers order.

The coalition includes Blackjack Pizza, Breadeaux Pizza, CiCi's Pizza, Domino’s Pizza, Figaro’s Italian Pizza, Godfather’s Pizza, Hungry Howie’s, the International Pizza Hut Franchise Holders Association, Little Caesars, Nick-N-Willy’s Pizza, Papa John’s Pizza, Papa Murphy’s Pizza, Papa's Pizza To-Go, Papa Romano's, Pizza Schmizza and Sam & Louie's Pizza. Supplier partners include Coca-Cola, Leprino Foods Company, the National Pork Producers Council, Paradise Tomato Kitchens, PepsiCo, and Tyson.
