Cafe Landwer, the all-day Mediterranean “diner” inspired by the cultures and cuisines of modern-day Israel, today announced the opening of their third location in Massachusetts, located in Boston’s trendy Back Bay neighborhood.
This newest location, connected to The Charlesmark Hotel at 651 Boylston Street, features Cafe Landwer’s signature Mediterranean menu, unique and fresh Landwer Market grab-and-go items, robust coffee program and a newly enhanced bar program. It joins Cafe Landwer’s existing Boston-area locations on Beacon Street and in Cleveland Circle.
Cafe Landwer’s Back Bay location expands the brand’s legacy into the center of Boston, to a major shopping and dining destination for well-heeled locals and tourists alike. The menu spans breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert service featuring Landwer’s classics. Hummus is made fresh daily, along with authentic Italian pizzas and pastas, while other popular offerings include Austrian Schnitzel and Tunisian/Yemen Shakshuka. Those with a sweet tooth can enjoy Cafe Landwer’s Russian Babka, or their signature dessert, Rozalach, available with either cookie butter or chocolate hazelnut spread. Offerings also include a variety of plant-based menu items and vegan and gluten-free options, as well as a “Little Landwer” children’s menu.

Cafe Landwer’s new Back Bay location offers a vintage-inspired bar area and adjoining dining room that carries over into the lobby of the adjacent Charlesmark Boutique Hotel, offering hotel guests, visitors and locals alike several different seating areas to enjoy Cafe Landwer’s menu and offerings.
The bar area is home to Landwer’s Market of grab n’ go prepared items throughout the day, along with the full menu, unique coffee drinks and pastries. In the evenings, the space transitions into an elevated bar serving up a selection of specialty cocktails, spiked lemonades, draft beers, local hard ciders, sangrias, and wines.
A mix of small and large contemporary booths, along with bistro-style tables, fill up the main dining room and overlook the restaurant’s Tabun pizza oven where pizzas and fresh-made pita bread are prepared daily. The space features dark wood accents, tufted leather seating and a vibrant lime tree wallpaper giving off Mediterranean citrus garden vibes.
Cafe Landwer got its start in 1919 in Berlin, when Moshe Landwer launched his independent coffee roasting business. Emigrating to Tel Aviv in 1933, he opened the coastal city’s first coffee roasting house. In 2004, four young entrepreneurs took the namesake coffee brand and launched a chain of cafes across Israel where they now operate 80 storefronts. Co-founder and CEO Nir Caspi brought the brand to North America in 2017, and today operates five locations across Canada, one in Los Angeles, and now three locations in Boston.
