6th & La Brea, a new go-to neighborhood dining and craft beer destination, is opening in the heart of the burgeoning La Brea Corridor. Aptly named for its location, 6th & La Brea will open its doors to anticipatory Angelenos on July 16.  Brought to you by Artisanal Brewers Collective (ABC), the brewpub will offer guests a comfortable and welcoming neighborhood environment with beer brewed on site, California-focused seasonally-driven cocktails, and a menu full of bold Californian and Asian ingredients that will make you question why Betel Leaf and Mochi Gnocchi haven’t been a part of your daily cuisine thus far.

“The La Brea Corridor is an incredible part of town. There is so much great energy along this stretch of La Brea with all the thriving shops and restaurants. We are inspired by the artistic and creative vision in this neighborhood and are looking forward to adding a new casual gathering place to the area,” says Tony Yanow, one of the founders of ABC. “6th & La Brea will be a lot of things, but ultimately, it will be a spot for people looking to meet, eat and drink well in a comfortable, enticing space, with truly unique fresh, local and innovative brewpub food unlike anything you’ve had before.”

Bringing over a decade of brewing experience to 6th & La Brea, Head Brewer Noah Regnery will oversee all on-site brewing operations at the mid-city brewpub. Born and bred in the rich craft beer culture that is San Diego, Noah has honed expertise from his days at the legendary Pizza Port Brewing which led him to go on to win many local, national, and international awards such as the Great American Beer Festival and World Beer Cup.

The 7-barrel steam heated HTI (Hop To It Enterprises) system at 6th & La Brea, features state-of-the-art touch screen control panels and air actuated valves, which will serve up a wide range of beer styles directly off of the brite beer tanks, from American varieties such as hop forward west coast IPAs and refreshing blonde ales to English, German, and Belgian-inspired styles that pay homage to each unique brewing tradition. The bar will feature 16 taps consisting of 6th & La Brea house brews as well as guest brews, with taps from 5 tanks going directly into the bar’s tap system and a handful of additional kegged beers served from a remote beer cooler.

Chef Jihee Kim has created a bright and contemporary menu drawing on both her international upbringing and her more recent experiences cooking through some of California’s top restaurants.  Born and raised in a food-centric family with parents in the restaurant business, Jihee has deep roots in the industry. After moving from South Korea at the age of 20, she quickly began building her skills as a young chef at Le Cordon Bleu in San Francisco, then cooking in a variety of fine dining kitchens including Range, Michael Mina and Michelin-starred restaurant Gary Danko in the Bay Areabefore moving down to Los Angeles.  Having most recently worked at acclaimed Rustic Canyon restaurant and wine bar, Jihee brings her extensive fine dining background as she takes the helm at 6th & La Brea.

The menu at 6th & La Brea will feature forward-thinking dishes that are authentically-inspired such as Betel Leaf Rolls (vegan/non-vegan), offered with the option of Impossible Meat or pork/beef filling, Mochi Gnocchi, a dish of chewy rice cakes tossed in a verdant pesto of shiso and Thai basil, and K.F.C., a crispy, boneless whole chicken glazed in an addictive sweet chili sauce. Guests can also enjoy fresh and innovative small bites and appetizers like Mushroom Dumplings (vegan), Mussels Escabeche Toast, and Leek Salad (vegan/non-vegan with fish sauce) made with broken tofu, sesame and toast. A fresh and bright selection of greens and heartier dishes round out the menu, offering a little something for everyone with options such as the Burger (vegan/non-vegan) served with sambal cheese & fries, Glass Noodle Bowl (vegan/non-vegan) offered with the choice of chicken or tofu, and the Salmon with festival rice & broth.

The restaurant’s beverage program will feature variations of California-inspired cocktails incorporating seasonally driven ingredients alongside a tailored list of California-focused wines. The spirit list will also highlight California distilleries – many of which source local ingredients and focus on sustainability.   Guests can expect an expansive cocktail list with a California flair, including cocktails like The La Brea with Charbay green tea vodka, Chareau aloe, matcha syrup, lemon and soda; Ginger’s Dream featuring Cutwater Three Sheets rum, Giffard ginger, lemongrass, syrup and lime; and the Californiano with Bruto Americano, St. George raspberry liqueur, Peychauds, and soda – all of which were designed along with the rest of the cocktail program to complement the food by incorporating ingredients from dishes to keep the drinks fresh and light. Perfect to enjoy before, during, and after a meal.

Overseeing the restaurant will be General Manager Jesse McBride, who brings decades of seasoned restaurant management expertise to the new La Brea brewpub. Armed with a fierce passion for all things hospitality from a young age, Jesse has learned firsthand the ins and outs of every working role in a restaurant.  With time spent at New York restaurants like The Odeon and off-shoot Bar Odeon as well as Los Angeles hotspots Chateau Marmont and Spartina, Jesse brings over 25 years of experience to his role at 6th & La Brea.

Local designer and stylist Melissa Ritchie brings the 8,400 square foot restaurant to life with contemporary mid-century modern design elements. The lofty ceilings are grounded by the brewpub’s concrete and black accents and warmed by the alder wood screens, while the long, expansive blonde oak bar top and textured forest green tiles evoke a natural, modern Californian vibe. The bright and airy 168 seat restaurant will be comprised of a large bar area complemented by high-top communal tables that will seamlessly flow into the glass walled sit-down dining space with numerous tables for diners to gather around. Guests can also grab a beer from a selection of 16 rotating taps of in-house brewed beers, as well as bottled beer, wine and cocktails while lounging on the banquettes along the brewery wall to get a glimpse of the exposed stainless-steel tanks where Regnery’s brewing magic happen.

The expansive 80 seat patio and outdoor dining space will offer an airy street side reprieve from the bustling La Brea Ave with shady umbrellas, square wood table tops and a touch of greenery – all of which make 6th & La Brea a quintessential meeting place or celebratory gathering spot.

Guests can also have a more intimate experience in the dark, moody 25 seat private lounge—a complete departure from the main dining room. Diners can expect black wainscoted walls, mod marbled wallpaper and a stone topped bar, in addition to custom-made furniture by local talent Artless Corporation which creates a luxurious and dark escape from the rest of the brewpub.
