On The Border Hopes to Raise Over $70K for No Kid Hungry

One in six kids in America lives with hunger. This back-to-school season, millions of students will face the school day on an empty stomach because there is not enough to eat at home. To help with the efforts of ending childhood hunger across the country, On The Border teamed up with No Kid Hungry to raise funds to end childhood hunger. As a reflection of On The Border’s passionate support of this cause, the brand’s leadership team and employees nationwide have committed to raising more than $70,000 to No Kid Hungry and to participating in year-round efforts and events, including the Dine Out for No Kid Hungry campaign.

The first event that On The Border will roll out is the Dine Out campaign, which will run from September 1 to September 30 in participating On The Border restaurants across the country. During this period, guests are invited to dine out at On The Border and donate to No Kid Hungry. Every guest who donates $2 or more to No Kid Hungry will receive a coupon for $5 off a future visit to On The Border.

“We are very excited about our involvement with No Kid Hungry because childhood hunger impacts all of us,” says Rebecca Miller, Senior Vice President of Marketing for On The Border. “Strong, healthy kids grow up to be strong, healthy adults, which in turn creates stronger communities. It’s truly inspiring to see what No Kid Hungry makes possible with just a little support from the restaurant partners. Every $2 a guest donates provides up to 20 meals in need, and we’re happy to extend an extra thank you to those who choose to make a difference.”

On The Border was also selected as one of only a few select restaurant partners to host an Orange Carpet Event as part of the Hunger Can’t Wait touring Road Show. The On The Border event will take place Monday, September 10th at its location in Addison, TX, and will feature a mobile orange billboard that will roll up to the Addison On The Border at 4:30 pm to kick off food, fun, music, and more as part of the festivities. On The Border will be featuring samples of its appropriately orange Mango Lime Aguas Frescas kid-friendly beverage, and donating a portion of the proceeds from that day’s sales of the beverage to No Kid Hungry.

Hunger Can’t Wait and Orange Carpet events are free and open to the public, designed to recognize and celebrate the involvement and participation of guests and the restaurants’ own All-Star team members for raising awareness of childhood hunger in America.  Event All Stars will also be featured on No Kid Hungry’s digital platforms, including the Dine Out for No Kid Hungry official website and social channels. The public can also join the conversation on Social Media using #HungerCantWait.

“Everything we do on behalf of No Kid Hungry is possible through our amazing team members and guests. They absolutely deserve the recognition because they are actively making a difference for hungry children in need,” adds Miller. “Their selflessness and compassion underscores the reality of childhood hunger and just how prevalent it is.”

“No child deserves to go hungry in this great country of ours; yet, one in six children in America lives with hunger.  Hunger can’t wait, especially when it comes to kids,” says Diana Hovey, Senior Vice President of Share Our Strength, the national organization behind No Kid Hungry. We're so thankful to have the support of On The Border’s team members and guests.  With just the simple act of dining out, we can ensure more kids have the food they need to succeed."

Since 2010, No Kid Hungry and its partners have provided children across the country with more than 775 million meals.
