Black Bear Diner, the fast-growing, family dining concept that offers a one-of-a-kind experience and home-style comfort food classics in a friendly, bear-themed atmosphere, has announced it is officially opening its doors tomorrow, March 5, in Portland, Oregon. The franchise-owned restaurant will be located at 3737 SE 82nd Avenue.

The opening marks Black Bear Diner’s 11th in the state and first in Southeast Portland, bringing its home-style breakfast, lunch, and dinner comfort food classics to the Portland community, including Corned Beef Hash, Beyond Burger, and Bigfoot Chicken Fried Steak. The Portland diner is 5,118 square-feet and has a capacity of 144 guests.

“Our newest restaurant in Portland doesn’t look much different than the first restaurant we opened in 1995, and we still offer the same delicious burgers, meatloaf, chicken-fried steak and other comfort food classics that our guests have come to love,” says Black Bear Diner co-founder and chief executive officer Bruce Dean. “Black Bear Diner is excited to continue to expand in Portland and we look forward to introducing our style of delicious food and genuine hospitality to more guests.”

Recognized as one of the country’s fastest-growing franchises and a disruptor in the family-dining segment, Black Bear Diner has been acknowledged for its growth and performance, especially compared to numerous competitive brands. The company has opened seven new diners since 2019.
