Black Angus Steakhouse Turning 58 with Birthday Bash Event

Black Angus Steakhouse announced its 58th birthday celebration on April 1 and April 2, 2022—designed to incorporate the social and F&B elements that made the beloved chain a premiere hot spot in the 1980s and 1990s. Plans across all locations include a 6 oz. Top Sirloin with Bourbon Butter, Haystack Onion Strings, Red Skin Mashed Potato, and Steamed Broccoli meal priced at $19.64 to honor the year of its inception,  Gold Strike margaritas for $2, Square Cow Coolers for $5, Cowboy Ups (Coors Lite followed by a shot of Jack Daniels) for $6, party favors, and live music from local bands—all minted by the iconic square cow design, which is being reintroduced into the company’s brand.

“Back in its heyday, the Square Cow Fun Bar was the place where people would eat drink, dance, and maybe even meet a love interest,” Deborah Shapiro, Vice President of Growth, says. “We’re so excited to bring the fun of it back for our birthday celebration and share this experience with a new generation while welcoming people who’ve been coming to Black Angus for years.”

Emphasizing heritage has been a key component of Black Angus’ employee and customer support initiative, which maps it and other core values including family, quality, value, consistency, loyalty, and trust as essential parts of the company’s messaging among customers and employees. Black Angus has also increased community involvement by recently welcoming minority-owned small businesses such as McBride Sisters Wine Company, Me & The Bees Lemonade, and Lillie’s of Charleston Spicy Mustard BBQ Sauce into the menu selection at several locations.

“Part of our core values is to continue to serve the best high quality, meats, seafood, and poultry, at great value” David Bolosan, Senior Director of Innovation and Procurement, explains. “Having premium steakhouse quality aged meat at everyday low prices is also part of our heritage.”

Steaks served at Black Angus are all certified or choice meats. The steakhouse prepares and serves over 2 million pounds of beef every year, meeting the demands of clients who eat in their restaurants and those who order takeout. For people who prefer to cook to their own specifications in the comfort of their kitchen, Black Angus recently launched their new Meat Market where shoppers order items like beef patties, butterflied lobster tails, and Black Angus Steak Sauce online before picking up their purchases in store.

While expanding their culinary offerings with the meat market and showcasing diverse brands, Black Angus has discovered the key to integrating the characteristics that make the steakhouse so unique and beloved by past, present, and future generations—they maintain the quality of the food. To spread the message, they plan to attract regulars as well as newbies to enjoy their 58th Birthday Party, complete with the retro Square Cow Fun Bar to meld the past with the present.
