Bethany Beach Ocean Suites Names Christina Swan GM of Restaurant

Bethany Beach Ocean Suites Residence Inn by Marriott announced the appointment of Christina Swan as the General Manager of new signature restaurant, Via Sophia by the Sea. Christina Swan brings over 17 years of food and beverage experience to her new role, where she will oversee the restaurant’s operations, team management, and overall workplace culture.

“We are thrilled to welcome Christina Swan to the Bethany Beach Ocean Suites family,” stated Derek Vance, General Manager of Bethany Beach Ocean Suites. “Swan possesses a keen understanding of both the industry as well as our specific coastal Delaware market. With her demonstrated abilities to manage and motivate behind the scenes, as well as her commitment to guest satisfaction, we are confident that she will bring tremendous leadership and value to Via Sophia by the Sea.”

As General Manager of Via Sophia by the Sea, Swan will oversee every aspect of operations, including budget management, recruiting and retaining top talent, marketing decisions, menu development, food quality and safety, guest experience, and more. Prior to this role, she held the role of Restaurant Manager at The Tides Beach Club in Kennebunkport, Maine and the Isla Bella Beach Resort in Marathon, Florida.

Swan received a Bachelor of Liberal Arts from the University of Maine, Orono where she minored in Business. She is multilingual in English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese. Her interest in hospitality started as a side hustle, but her affection for the industry developed into a successful career. All these years later, she still has the same love for the endearing chaos of it all. She lives in Rehoboth, DE with her boyfriend and her very cheeky, very vocal cat. She enjoys bitterly cold nights in Maine when the stars paint the sky white, the adrenaline of getting slightly lost in the woods, carousel rides with people who hate carousel rides, and the immediate familial camaraderie felt with fellow hospitality members no matter where she travels in the world.

Following the success and critical acclaim of the original Via Sophia concept that debuted in Washington DC in 2019, Bethany Beach’s Via Sophia by the Sea is the brand’s third restaurant to debut on the east coast. This 164-seat, indoor/outdoor restaurant features a lively, sophisticated setting with a modern osteria design. Dishes are made in-house from scratch, using the freshest, locally sourced ingredients. Classic Italian dishes, pastas and breads, and fresh-from-the-boat seafood are paired with bespoke beverages and a discerning wine list.
